I, Andrew Osolase, President of the Edo Association of Florida, Inc welcome you to the official website of the Edo Association of Florida, Inc. This Association was started in Miami in 1993 by four Edo men with a vision to promote the Edo Languages, culture, and social values; help promote self help to Edoindigines in the Diaspora, and provide assistance to all Edo people and needy Americans both home and abroad.

th Annual Independence Day Family Outing & Picnic

 

(Miami, Florida)--- Edo Association of Florida (EAF) Inc., will host its 15th Annual

Independence Day Family Outing and Picnic on Sunday, July 4, 2010, at Amelia Earhart Park, 401 East 65th Street, Hialeah FL 33013 (Shelter #3), from 11:00 a.m. - 6:00p.m

.


The event is FREE and open to the general public. The Miami-Dade County Department of Water and Sewer graciously donated new and efficient models of showerhead and compact fluorescent light bulbs, which we will exchange one for one, on a first-come first serve basis. A maximum of 2 showerhead and 3 fluorescent (CFL) will be exchanged per household (Miami-Dade County residents only) The event will also feature African cuisine, African music, contests, competitions, great raffle prizes and much more.     

 

EAF?s president, Mr. Andrew Osolase, stated that ?The African community in South Florida is vibrant, robust and hard working people. As immigrants, we want to continue to contribute to the success of this nation, which many of us now call home. The picnic, now in its 15th year, is EAF?s flagship event.? Mr. Osolase also expressed his gratitude to the sponsors of this event for their very gracious contributions.

 

EAF was organized in 1993, in Miami-Dade County as a not-for-profit entity, and

registered with the State of Florida and recognized by the IRS as a 501(c) (3)

organization. The mission of EAF is to provide opportunities, promote education, positive image, and cultural awareness and to embrace the rich multi-cultural diversity of Florida, United States, Nigeria and Edo State of Nigeria. EAF is a member of Edo National Association (ENA) USA and Canada.

 

In 1999, EAF hosted ENA?s National Convention at the Embassy Suites Hotel, Miami, with dignitaries from Nigeria which included the State Governor, Senators, representatives of the Nigerian Consulate General from New York and Atlanta, Georgia. The economic impact of the more than 500 delegates that attended the Convention to Miami-Dade County was estimated at more than $150,000.

 

In 2002, EAF collaborated with the Florida Department of Children and Families and the Dependency Court in placing with relatives, two children whose parents were involved in fatal domestic dispute.

 

EAF will again host the ENA National Convention at the Intercontinental Hotel,

Downtown Miami, Florida, September 2 - 5, 2011 (Labor Day Weekend).
