EDO ASSOCIATION OF FLORIDA INC.
Edo Association of Florida (EAF) Inc., will host Edo National Association (ENA) of USA & Canada Convention in Miami, Florida, in 2011.
(Miami, Florida)--- During ENA’s Convention held in San Francisco, CA, on September 4 – 7, 2009, Edo Association of Florida (EAF) Inc., won the bid to host the 2011 version of ENA’s Annual National Convention. The convention will be held at the Intercontinental Hotel, located in Downtown Miami, Florida, from September 2 – 5, 2011.
ENA’s 2009 National President Mr. Samuel Isokpunwu, together with EAF (host) president Andrew Osolase conducted a site inspection visit of the convention facilities and signed the letter of agreement with Intercontinental Hotel in December, 2009. “ENA is pleased to return to Miami for its annual convention in 2011, and we look forward to a successful convention in Miami,” stated Mr. Isokpunwu.
The host president Mr. Andrew Osolase thanked the Mayor of Miami-Dade County, Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners, Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau, and the Sales Department of Intercontinental Hotel for their support in securing the bid. Mr. Osolase noted that Miami will also host the meeting of all ENA’s local chapter presidents in April, prior to the National Convention in September 2011. He stated that “more than 1500 delegates including the Governor of Edo State of Nigerian and members of his Cabinet, Edo citizens in the United States, Canada, Europe and the Diaspora are expected to attend the 4-day event.”
EAF was organized in 1993, in Miami-Dade County as a not-for-profit entity, and registered with the State of Florida and recognized by the IRS as a 501(c) organization. The mission of EAF is to provide opportunities, promote education, positive image, and cultural awareness and to embrace the rich multi-cultural diversity of Florida, United States, Nigeria and Edo State of Nigeria. EAF is a member of Edo National Association (ENA) USA and Canada.
In 1999, EAF hosted ENA’s National Convention at the Embassy Suites Hotel, Miami, with dignitaries from Nigeria which included the State Governor, Senators, representatives of the Nigerian Consulate General from New York and Atlanta, Georgia. The economic impact of the more than 500 delegates that attended the Convention to Miami-Dade County was estimated at more than $150,000.
The annual EAF’s Fourth of July (Independence) Family Outing and Picnic held at Amelia Earhart Park, featuring free meals, games and fun for many families in South Florida has become a flagship event in South Florida.
